first blog

i'm typing fast to get over the incredibly awkward feeling of writing a blog. i used to think they were so strange but now i noticed that part of my daily routine is to read the blogs of all the people from the gym. Its kind of a neat and strange way to see a little behind the curtain of individuals we see often but don't know that well. I may be one of those people who writes for a bit and then fades off the radar. John at the gym had suggested keeping a training journal to monitor progress. i dont think i'm that organized but we'll see. I thought i'd try to log my workout along with my diet for the day. whats really strange is that my best workouts have always been on the days after i eat pure crap. Well, since most crap is carbs, its not too surprising that some carb loading would have a positive effect on my workouts.
day 1 of recording this stuff.

8/29
workout:
5 sets of 5 deadlifts
185/205/225/315(we were slow and didn't get a 5th set in)

Diet:
one brick of coffee cake and a handful of corn chips
(not a usual diet but had to get what i could)
Electrician brought coffee cake to a meeting and a co-worker shared some chips. Last night, i ate a bag of peanut m&m's for dinner.
Really sucks being in meetings all day and not having access to food.

think i'm going to take the next 3 days off from the gym. Running 15 miles on Sunday morning as i prepare for the portland Marathon. Today Stephen and Nadine told me that puff daddy ran the new york marathon with only 8 weeks of training and actually did pretty good. I never thought once in my life that puff daddy would inspire me, but now, i'm thinking "if puff(or is it some new name?) can do it, then so can I". After this marathon, i'm going to mail my running shoes to the opposite side of planet to make sure they never find their way on my feet again. Sorry Nathan, I know you dont like seeing or smelling those darn keens.

I think you'll surprise yourself dude! You've already gotten much stronger in the short time that you've been there... I bet in 6 months you look back and be stoked. It can be trying at times but I bet you'll like it.

Now about that diet... Ill get you some diet stuff soon.
